About Sharon

Sharon’s extensive pre-professional training included providing medical nutrition therapy at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hebrew Home & Hospital, Bristol Hospital Wellness Center, Saint Francis Hospital Cancer Center, and at Maryann Meade & Associates.  Sharon discovered that she had a passion for one-on-one counseling and was determined to one day establish her own private practice.       

Sharon began her professional career in the field of nutrition working at Waterbury Hospital Health Center as a clinical out-patient dietitian.  She provided medical nutrition therapy for cardiac rehabilitation patients and physician-referred patients, and conducted nutrition programs for the Greater Waterbury Elderly Nutrition Program.  Sharon later worked at Milford Hospital as both clinical in-patient and out-patient dietitian.  

In 2002, Sharon established Shoreline Nutrition Counseling, LLC, in her hometown of Branford, Connecticut.  Sharon also achieved Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status in 2002 and was most recently recertified in 2017.  The National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators administers the certification program for health care professionals who teach individuals with diabetes how to manage their disease, and is dedicated to promoting excellence in the field of diabetes education.  Achieving the CDE credential demonstrates that the health care professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting quality of care for patients with diabetes.
